Will boarding my loft affect my NHBC warranty?
No. All of our boarding systems are NHBC accepted and correctly fitted boards will not affect your NHBC warranty. We have boarded hundreds of new-build lofts. NHBC guidance is that boarding done at the homeowner's instruction does not invalidate the warranty, but any defects caused by the installation would not be covered. That is why we raise the boards properly and never squash your insulation.
How much does a loft ladder, hatch or boarding job cost?
It depends on your loft size, access and what you need. We carry out a free survey and then prepare a quotation based on your individual requirements. There are no hidden fees and the price we quote is the price you pay.
What happens at the free survey?
One of our surveyors visits, looks at your loft and access and talks through the options. It takes about an hour on average, it is free and there is no obligation. We never use pushy sales tactics.
Can I pay monthly?
0% finance and pay-monthly options are available, so you can get the work done now and spread the cost. Ask at your survey for details. Finance is subject to status and terms.
Is there a warranty on the work?
Yes. All of our work comes with a lifetime warranty, plus a 100% satisfaction guarantee on every job: we only ask for payment after our final satisfaction check.
How long does a loft job take?
It depends on the work. Many jobs are done in a single day, and customers have had a new hatch, ladder, boarding, shelving and insulation all completed in one day. We confirm timings in your quote.
What type of loft ladder should I choose?
It depends on your ceiling height, how often you go up and how much room you have. We fit wooden, 2 and 3 section aluminium, telescopic, Youngman Deluxe and electric ladders, and we will recommend the right one at your free survey.
What do you board lofts with?
We use 18mm tongue and groove boards, raised on timbers or LoftLegs so they sit above your insulation. That keeps the insulation working properly and avoids compressing it.
Can you make my loft hatch bigger or move it?
Yes. If your hatch is too small or in the wrong place we can fit a larger one or relocate the access. We fit PVC hatches and fully insulated, draught-proof wooden hatches.
Can I have boarding, insulation, a new ladder and lighting done together?
Yes, and it is usually the most cost-effective way. We can fit a new hatch and ladder, board the loft, top up the insulation and add lighting in one visit.
Do I need to empty my loft first?
